Do ultrasonic pest repellents harm hamsters?
A little backstory here. My hamster died a week before we moved to a new house, and so after we moved my mom installed an ultrasonic pest repellent to take care of the cockroaches. (We live at the beach and roaches thrive in palm trees) Now it’s been like three months since Chuck passed, and I really miss having a furry friend, but I don’t want to bring one into my house if it is going to be harmed. I don’t want to be selfish and be responsible for a hamsters death or really any harm towards it at all.

The ones that affect rodents like mice / rats will and should not be used near small mammals.

Hamsters communicate with each other in ultrasound, so they can hear it. I imagine constant ultrasound would be stressful for them.

Re: Do ultrasonic pest repellents harm hamsters?
I had an electronic pest repellent (advertised for spiders) before I had a hamster. It simply didn't occur to me that there would be any problem, and I located the cage and hamster within about two feet of the repellent!!!!! It was there for several months before I saw an online warning about the repellents and small animals, and hastily unplugged the repellent. I sincerely hope I didn't cause her any undue stress, and her behaviour didn't change when I unplugged the repellent, so assume perhaps that is was designed only to deter spiders. I asked a vet about this - and they didn't know.

You can get them for cats and they hurt my ears so if it's a similar thing I'd say your ham will hear it
