I am so sorry. He was a very special hamster and I feel to have personally known him too on here. Yes it is hard that you can’t go in the room with them due to the gas and have to hand them over. But he would have just gone to sleep peacefully. He is playing free over the rainbow bridge now. He had a long and happy life with you and was loved and lucky for that but I know it doesn’t help with the sadness of loss when they are gone. Soon you will be remembering all the good moments when he was funny and those can be treasured.

I find I have to do the cage straight away and put it out of sight or it’s too upsetting although once I just covered it up for a few days.

I am sorry for your loss. He is in your heart now so fear not. All that aching is him burrowing around and making himself at home and he is also making it grow a little bigger for when you feel you have the space to love another.
You gave him the last great gift in setting him free. Big hugs to you Aprilpearl and know you did your best and loved him all his days to the last second x Run free at the bridge Quigley.

Oh AprilPearl, I am so sorry that you had to make the decision for Quigley and take him to the vet. You made the kindest and most loving decision possible. I hope you found them caring and considerate at the vets because I have been through similar visits there and found them to be so.
Quigley’s life was a long and happy one, filled with love and care from you. That is very special for our little ones and they can find it hard to leave. But Quigley is pain free now and your heart can embrace all he gave to you and you to him.
Play well at the bridge Quigley and there are many friends for you there. Send your heartbroken Mum a sign that all is well now.
Hug for you AP x
