Smile Tiny farm friends bathing sand?

Does anyone know is the tiny farm friends bathing sand safe and usable for hamsters?

If not is there any other sand you would recommend?

I don’t know but I bought the Reptisand, which I know is safe, and is cheaper (10 pounds for twenty something on Amazon).

Don’t buy the one with calcium, get this one, or the 20 pound bag : https://www.amazon.ca/Zoo-Med-ReptiS...s%2C182&sr=8-1

My hamster has it in her toilet and I have never had any issues with it but I have heard that some hamsters eat it.

I use, it. I am well aware that others have their worries about it. Normally I would err on the side of caution and if in doubt use something else, but in this instance i really think something may have got blown out of proportion where the stories started on this no longer being suitable or someone did not understand what it was made from. Serendipity wrote a good thread which I will link here.

Tiny Friends bathing sand

I have used to for 1.5 years with no sign of my hamster having an issue with it.

Do you need to sift or/and heat treat this sand? I've been thinking about this one or children's playsand but if I don't have to heat treat this one that would be a lot easier

I’ve used the tiny friends and the jr farm sand from Zooplus. They are both sepiolite sand. I prefer the colour of the jr farm one but the tiny friends one is fine too. If there were any issues with it (and the internet isn’t always right) then it may have been a bad batch.

Also, you can make sand last for quite a long time by sieving it.
I used to scoop all the sand out into a plastic container then sieve it through a large sieve into a kiddis bucket and then pour it back into my hamsters sandbath.
Why? Because i can be a bit dim at times. All you need is this, a small sieve and you can sieve it straight out from the sandbath into the bin.
