Default Hamster bit through mesh lid, is she okay?

Hi pals,

Found our hamster on the floor two has ago,, discovered that she had bitten through her lid and escaped. She has since been moved to a new taller tank where she can’t reach the top while on top of her wooden hideout. It’s 1am and she hasn’t done any running like she usually does. We’re worried if maybe she ate the metal and is sick/hurting from it. Has anyone’s hamster eaten mesh before? Is there another reason she may not be running?

I dont think your hamster would eat the mesh. Most animals are pretty good at knowing what is and isnt food. Mesh is too hard and probably doesnt taste anything close to food to them. The fact he escaped may be somewhat changing his behaviour right now right now.
