Poop? Stuck on my hamsters tail.

Hi, I was playing with my hamster Oreo around a fortnight back when I noticed something was stuck on his tail. It looked like it was either poop or food, and I figured he would eventually get it off himself however when I was playing with him today I noticed it's still there. I tried to get good pictures but trying to keep him still is a nono. He does have the hamster heaven and likes to sleep in the penthouse, where he also poops so I figured that's how it happened but the way it looks is very weird. Like part of it is red? Almost making it look like it's not poop.

Looks like old crusted poop from the pics, I'd wet a cloth with warm water and gently try to get it off. I've had it happen to hamsters with longer hair like your guy seems to have.. its just easier for the poop to get stuck

Could it be a scab maybe? If you are concerned you should probably visit a vet. Are you able to easily remove it?

Hi. It does look like a poop that has got attached to his fur/tail, but it's an unusual colour for a poop. Have you tried to see if it is just stuck in his fur (of which he has a a lot being long haired!) - try using an old toothbrush and give a gentle little brush - just once or twice - you can do that while he's walking around so he doesn't need to keep still. If it is actually attached to his tail it could be some kind of growth so he would need to see a vet.
