Allergic to carefresh?
Hi all, Has anyone elses hamster ever been allergic to carefresh. I normally use megazorb but thought I would add a bag of carefresh to one side of my hamster run play area for a change, well, the next 2 days Star could hardly open her eyes, poor thing. All is fine now. This is the only thing that I changed, so I am thinking dust or allergies.

Re: Allergic to carefresh?
It is possible -I've heard of that before. Either allergy or dust. I found Carefresh to have a very fine dust which I wasn't keen on. I use Fitch which doesn't have any dust at all so it's good stuff as far as I'm concerned, and hypoallergenic.

Re: Allergic to carefresh?
How strange because Carefresh isn't dusty.
Did you take the Carefresh out and then Star was ok again?
Henry was on Carefresh but i gave him the Kaytee c&c after a cage clean yesterday. This morning there was a big hole in front of his house where he had shovelled even more in. Seems to love its softness.

Re: Allergic to carefresh?
Thanks guys, Ria, I just didn't put Star back in the run. I gave it to Luna, she was fine. So now Star has the run of the conservatory. I just swopped them over. I might try fitch in the future for Star.

Re: Allergic to carefresh?
Kaytee C&C seems very similar to Fitch to me Also no dust. I prefer the texture of Fitch personally and it works out cheaper.
