About my hamster:
Age: 5 months
Gender: Female
Species: Syrian
Hello!
I've noticed a bald spot on my hamster's neck ( her mouth is fine, I'm talking about just about her neck area) about a month ago. I've decided to wait and see if it gets better but it didn't. Currently, her neck doesn't have much hair and she's two red dots. Her appetite is great, she's as active as normal, she doesn't have any discharge from her eyes, nose or mouth. She also doesn't have a problem with itching. I use hemp bedding (as I live in Poland aspen is practically impossible to find) for most of her cage and use CareFresh Confetti in her house/ nest. I went 2 days ago to the vet to get her checked up. The vet said it's probably an allergic reaction and to remover CareFresh bedding and see if it gets better.
Which is exactly what I did although I have her for 3 months now and use the same bedding as I did in the beginning and she was fine for 2 months. I don't think the bedding is the problem. My concern is about the way she sleeps. She only urinates in her nest and I've noticed she sometimes puts her heard on it while she sleeps. I thought this may be the reason why she has the balding problem but I really have no clue how to fix it. I clean her nest every 2/3 days but it clearly doesn't help. I'll see if removing the Carefresh bedding will help but I'd also like some advice on what to do with her nest because it may be the cause of her problem. You can also tell me your opinion on what you think is happening to her (the pics and video of her neck are below)
Thank you for reading and I'll truly appreciate any advice.
