Default Chinese Dwarf Hamster - Pyometra - UK

Hello everyone,

I have a chinese dwarf hamster just shy of two years old, last Saturday I noticed she was bleeding down below.

I took her to the vets on Sunday, they prescribed Baytril and Metacam.

I’ve been searching online and it sounds like she has pyometra? She’s happy and lively but still bleeding.

I’ve seen people say that antibiotics can only put her in recession, and to fix the problem she would need surgery, but surgery sounds very risky on someone so small.

How fatal is pyometra is she just has antibiotics and no surgery?

I’d very much appreciate any advice people can give. If anyone knows a good place to find a vet experienced with dwarf hamsters in the uk that would be really helpful as well, as our current vets aren’t experts. We live in the Midlands near Leicester if that helps.
