Re: Somthing wrong with my hamster help
at 3 years of age he really is a very very old hammy and it sounds as if he is ready to make his way to the bridge soon. If you think he may be in pain then seeing a vet is the best thing to do however often they just are winding down when they behave this way and you may decide to just let him make his own way peacefully in his nest. I'd cover him with a blanket over the cage at one side so he is quiet and dark. Leave some food near his nest and a small bowl of water and maybe a little cucumber chopped up. maybe check every few hours. Dont be surprised if he lies out in the open as this is not uncommon in hammies why are passing. I hope his path is gentle.

Re: Somthing wrong with my hamster help
I am so sorry. As Soufflé says, it sounds as if he is ready to go to the rainbow bridge. Three is incredibly old and it is just old age and everything starting to fail. I found at this stage that talking to them and telling them it’s ok to go does seem to help. As they do try and hang on for you sometimes. In my opinion. I hope it is peaceful.
Do keep coming on here - most of us have been through this xxx

Re: Somthing wrong with my hamster help
Yes, as the others have said, your hammy is a very old senior citizen! Naturally, at some point, hamsters will start to have health problems. I wouldn’t take Peanut to the vet because they will most likely put him down. Enjoy the time you have left with him and think back on all your good memories. A hamster that has lived three years is something to be celebrated! Give Peanut lots of love. And remember, when he passes, he will be in a better place. Two months ago I lost my hammy, Waffles. He was also a fighter like Peanut and he lived for 3 and a half years. You can tell when their time is up because they will slow down and stop eating. I am so sorry that you have to say goodbye to Peanut. I hope it goes smoothly. ❤️
