Broken leg? HELP
Hi! My hamster Fred is 2 years old and has been showing some signs of aging for awhile. Today I took him out and I noticed that he dragged one of his back legs when walking. He sometimes put weight on it, when he stood up or climbed but just running he doesn't use it.
Other than that, he is a very happy boy, he still eats, he still drinks AND he still runs on his wheel, without any complaints. I'm monitoring his weight but even that seems normal.
Is it worth it taking him to the vet to check it out? I don't want to stress him out and cause more harm than good.

Re: Broken leg? HELP
I would take him. If he is in a manageable amount of pain they'll be able to help him stay active, and they can check just in case something more serious is happening

Re: Broken leg? HELP
It does sound like he has damaged his leg somehow. I would certainly take him along to the vet as he could be in pain. Hamsters are very good at hiding pain being prey animals so it's not always obvious. I would remove his wheel for now so that he can rest it untill you can take advice from the vet.

Please take your little one to the vet. Shame, it must be agony.
