Unhappy White Eye?

So a few days ago I was holding my hamster and I noticed one of her eyes was a bit white-ish I held her up a bit closer to the light and it vanished. Fast forward to today I was refilling her water and the white got bigger once again held some light up to her and it shrunk. I'm confused. And worried

Default Re: White Eye?

You’ll need to take her too the vets. Its most likely a sign of cararacts or glaucoma. Both cause blindness but hamsters adapt very well and normal hamster vision is terrible (if a human had hamster vision they’d be blind!). Cataracts dont cause pain but sometimes they develop alongside glaucoma and if you have a diabetes-prone species (russian dwarf, chinese) it can be a sign of diabetes.
