Default Long hair

I got my long haired syrian a week ago and I haven’t taken him out of his cage yet just because i’m still working on taming him. I am just worried because i’ve never had a long haired before and I was wondering if he’s going to get mats in his hair. I am planning on brushing him with a tooth brush but I just don’t want to stress him out. Will his hair get very matter if I wait a couple for weeks?

I have had lots of long haired hamsters over the years and they have very rarely needed brushing.

Would be nice to see pics when you and your hamster are ready.

Okay thanks just didn’t want his hair super tangled. For sure will post pictures once he’s more tame and comfortable with me
