Healthy weight for winter white
Our winter white dwarf hamster (Nova) is around 9 months old now. We always had problems with keeping our last winter white’s weight up, as she was never excited about food. Now we have the opposite problem! Nova loves her food, and I’m wondering if she’s overweight. She’s 41g, and I’ve seen healthy weights stated as anywhere from 30-60g. Is there any way we can tell if she’s overweight for her size by looking at/physically examining her?

Re: Healthy weight for winter white
I wouldn't worry about weight too much, while it's good to keep an eye on weight so you can easily spot any sudden gains or losses which may indicate a problem they rarely overeat so unless fed a lot of high fat treats they will remain at a healthy weight, my hybrids have probably averaged around 65g, some more some less, there is no real average.
keeping an eye on general condition & activity is a better way of monitoring how healthy they are.

Re: Healthy weight for winter white
Thank you She’s just so much bigger than our last dwarf that I was getting worried! She’s incredibly active, and spends the majority of the night on her wheel. So I guess there’s nothing to worry about.
