Default Poor Peach

Peach seems to have lost a lot of fur on her rear end. She seems normal in her behaviour. Her skin looks to be getting drier. She is normally orange all over, long hair satin. I think I will take her to the vet on Thursday. It's been slowly getting worse for 2 months now

Sorry to hear that Peach is having skin problems. Erins animals hamster, Iodine (rip) had something similar. Turned out to be an alergic reaction to her bedding.

Hope the vet can find a cause. Any recdnt changes in food, bedding or environment?

Wrong time of year for moulting really. Is it just at one side? Could be all kinds of things. If the vet does a skin scraping that could rule out mites.

Sorry to hear this. Not sure how old she is but I would be very hesitant to put an older hamster under anaesthetic for a skin scrape and would rather just treat for mites and look for improvement (recently had to do this with my own ham). Although it could be other things too. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Big Peachy is still bald on her back half. She's starting to show her age a bit now , at 2 years 3 months it's not surprising.
She visited Petersfield vets yesterday because of some scabs on her side. The vet says she seems healthy despite the wound and hair loss.
