Help, please!
Orie contracted mite through her bedding, and kept scratching herself, to the point of open wounds on her tummy, neck and paw. I took her to the vet because there were no signs of improvement for her wounds. The vet prescribed her Baytril (orally, mixed with juice twice a day, for 2 weeks) and Ivermetic (yes, the shot, weekly for 3 weeks). Clearly she was diagnosed with mites, and infection for her wounds.
Really my question is, is there anything i can do to help the wounds heal? Or is it a waiting game for the scabs to fall off?
*I changed her bedding to paper. I sterilized, with diluted bleach, everything in her change.
*Orie is a Syrian, who is about 1 year, 5 months.

Re: Help, please!
So sorry to hear about little Orie, its heartbreaking whe
our hammies are unwell. You could try using a little sudocrem as that is good if the scabs are getting irritating and Orie is scratching at them; otherwise it's best to try and leave the scabs to dry out and heal, as ideally you want to avoid moisture in the area which can just end up fuelling an infection. Hope she gets better soon x
