Blood in Urine
Here is information about my hamster - - Age: 2 years old
- Gender: Female
- Species: Long Haired Syrian
These are the details of my hamster's ailment - - When did it start: 3 days ago
Description of Ailment: - We use recycle soft crumbled paper for her bedding. We noticed some a bunch of the paper in her "pee corner" was red/pink I did not know what it was, we cleaned it up and just happened to see her wake up and go pee, when she was done it was red again. Dark super dark red, just reddish pink.
- She did not yelp or make any noise that would make us think she was in pain.
- Her appetite is good and she is drinking her normal amount of water.
- We have not given her any new food, just her normal hamster food.
- We did give her a new treat about 2 weeks ago: Vitakraft Triple Baked Crunch Sticks Hamster Treat, 3.75 oz.
- By: Vitakraft
Any specific physical changes: - No physical changes.
- She is light colored, we turned her over for a quick examination and noticed no bleeding or anything around her privates.
Any guess as to what may be going on?
Thank you,
Mitch

Re: Blood in Urine
It sounds like she may have a urinary infection, it's not uncommon & if it is that it normally responds well to antibiotics, best take her to the vet as soon as possible to get her checked out.

Re: Blood in Urine
As Cypher says it does need a vet visit as any sign of blood usually means an internal infection. If you can find an exotic vet in your area, that would be best - they are more expert on hamster ailments, and females can get pyometra which needs treating urgently - and diagnosing properly as well.
