Default Red sore looking scent glands

Hello!
So my hamster Loki is around 6 months old and I noticed yesterday one of his scent glands looked really red and raw. I have tried to take a picture as best as I could! We moved house 2 weeks ago and as he is in the detolf I had to remove all of his bedding but everything else in his cage remained the same.

Is this normal or should it be looked at by the vet?

Thank you!

It doesn't look normal, he may just have been going a bit mad with the scent marking if you had to change his substrate & he's bound to have noticed a change with you moving too.
Have you checked everything in his cage to make sure nothing has any rough edges that could hurt him if he rubs up against them?
I'd just keep a very close eye on it for now, if it doesn't show signs of getting better then it may be best to get it checked out.

You could try bathing it with saline - it does look a bit infected. And see if it improves. It may not be infected - it may be just scabbed over secretions.

To bathe with saline just dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a pint of boiling water and let it go cold - or nearly cold - only just tepid. And gently dab it with a cotton bud or the corner of a soft cloth - not too wet though so as not to soak her.
