I don't know - that's just my opinion - that it seemed to have a lot of sugars in which is something normally avoided for dwarf hamsters. I am not sure if it is mainly Syrian owners who use the pro C or not. Maybe start a thread on probiotics for dwarf hamsters? Cypher has dwarf hamsters and has used the one she mentioned for a while.

Vectis has dwarf hamsters - she might know

The skin thing on your hammy could well be hormonal if she has just been spayed - maybe a kind of menopause! That can cause all sorts including burning skin rashes - in humans anyway.

If she is on antibiotics for another week I would definitely start a probiotic though.

I've ordered DrS Potent Brew would you give it for a week once it arrives? or less? I might give some to my Syrian too, he has a bald patch.

I'd give it for 2 or 3 weeks. At a different time of day to the meds. So you could maybe put it in a tiny bit of baby food and leave it out in the morning and it should disappear throughout the day.

You could give some to your Syrian as well, but to be honest I found the best thing was Linseeds. Our Syrian got very raggy and bald patches and I've been giving him a few Linseeds every day on a separate dish and he now has a lovely thick soft coat - and he's just turned two. A bag of Linseeds isn't expensive and it lasts forever. Brown linseeds are supposed to be slightly better than golden. Our Syrian likes them and eats them up every day - I think they taste a bit nutty. I also give him a few shelled hemp seeds every day which also taste nutty and get licked up - they are supposed to contain all the vitamins and minerals.

I get these shelled hemp seeds - they're light and fluffy sort of. Holland and Barrett sell those as well as the linseeds. I haven't needed to give vitamins etc because I think these give everything they need, if they eat them. Linseeds have the healthy oils and Vitamin E (for skin and fur).

This bag lasts forever as well - it's supposed to be for humans to put on their cereals I think our hamster has a healthier diet than me.

For your Syrian I would give the linseeds and hemp seeds a - pinch on a little dish each day. And see how that goes. Not sure I'd give the seeds and the Potent Brew at the same time in case it ends up being too much vitamins.

I think she's a robo & they aren't prone to diabetes.
Potent brew I give weekly as a maintenance dose, daily for an unwell ham for a week or possibly more if on meds then once or twice a week for another week before going back to weekly.
I give flax/linseed for hair loss too along with evening primrose oil but I do think probiotics can help with overall health so a good idea to give them too.
I give mine hemp seeds too but in the shell.

I wouldn't give oil personally - I just give a pinch of the actual seeds. Some oils have additives etc. What does it say on the bottle? Also they may not like the oil! I guess you could disguise it. I think they much prefer eating the seeds.

I got this bag. A bit smaller than a bag of sugar. Been using it for both hamsters for about 9 months and it will probably last another few years!

It's fine to give the flaxseed oil at the same time, I usually mix it with some porridge oats & give it that way but you could just put a drop on some food.
