Unhappy Wet tail - diarrhoea...wish me luck

When i picked up my syrian herbert (approx. 2 months old) this morning i noticed that is bum was covered in poo and he smellt really bad. i am so scared that he has wet tail. apart from that he seems fine so far...he is eating, drinking digging in his sand bath, climbing and he wants to be taken out of the cage. it must have started during last night as he was fine yesterday evening. i really hope its just diarrhoea...

i immediately made an appointment at the vets for him. so i will see tonight whats wrong with him. wish me luck please!!!

Get him to the vet as you are doing. You need to follow the same instructions as is in the thread about Sid.
It sounds like wet tail as the smell is typical and the messy bot. It is a hard slog to pull them through this so all the best for Herbert.
Hopefully you will be successful in treatment if you have got him seen early
Good luck.

Unhappy Re: Wet tail - diarrhoea...wish me luck

thanks to you all!!!

when i came home after work he looked already much better and didnt smell bad anymore. the vet said that it doesnt look like wet tail...probably just an upset stomach. she told me i would get an urgent appointment any time if herbert would get worse again and she gave me a probiotic powder i have to put it into the water bottle. i will keep a close eye on herbert and see if his poo is normal again. maybe i was just getting paranoid because i have read so much about wet tail here. but it is better to be too cautious than to less...right?!

i am so relieved now

oh yeah...turns out herbert is a SHE. bloody pet shops. whats the point in separating the males and females if they dont know what is what. i wasnt convinced about herbert being a he anyway. oh well...as long as she isnt pregnant

I'm glad he.. she is ok lol Fingers crossed it was just an upset tummy and she is better now!

Pet shops are useless... hopefully she isn't pregnant! How long have you had her?
