Sneezing/Sniffling?

Hello all, recently my Syrian has been making these small sniffly noises when burrowing in his substrate. He is very active, has a normal appetite, doesn't have a runny nose or eyes, and doesn't sneeze when not in his cage/substrate; for these reasons I'm sure it isn't a respiratory infection. I use Kaytee Clean and Cozy, which is known to be relatively dust free so I'm not sure what the issue is. Could he be allergic to the bedding? If so, is aspen a good alternative or is there another option I should research? I live in the USA for suggestion purposes

It would be quite unusual to be allergic to a paper based bedding but not impossible I suppose. How long have you been using the kaytee and were you using something different before? If it's a different bag you are using perhaps this one is more dusty.

I don't really know anything about bedding in USA so hopefully someone will be able to help with that.

I've been using Kaytee since I got him, so about 5 months. He's always had light sniffling but only while digging; it wasn't a concern until the past two weeks. Maybe it's just this specific bag of substrate.
