Tail injury?
Hi guys,
I took Hamilton out of his cage this morning and noticed that his tail was looking a little strange; I'm not sure if I'm imagining it but it looks a bit inflamed and sore at the end. Could it be an injury, or infection, or something worse, or am I worrying over nothing? And should I take him to a vet or just keep an eye on him for a few days to see if it gets worse? His behaviour is normal; he drank quite a lot this morning but that might be because I forgot to put his water bottle back on his cage last night after I spot cleaned his cage. But he's eating normally, and I haven't noticed any diarrhea or blood in his urine or anything like that.
Any advice you guys can give would be gratefully appreciated

Re: Tail injury?
It looks quite swollen there. It's not unusual to get tail injuries if they fall and land on a hard surface and they usually heal easily. If he has however gotten a break in the skin infection can set in.
If the tail remains swollen I would have him checked by a vet in case it needs antibiotics or anti-inflammatories.

Re: Tail injury?
Okay, thank you. I thought it looked swollen too, but I didn't know if I was just imagining it. He does climb the bars when I open the door of his cage, and sometimes if I'm not quick enough to get a hand under him, he'll either fall or throw himself off. He had a couple of falls yesterday but seemed all right at the time, so it could well be an injury as a result of that. I'll keep an eye on him.
*edit* Just got some better photos of it:
