Default Eye eczema

I have developed eczema around my eyes within the past week or so and it has begun to appear on my eyelids as of last night. I was wondering whether or not eczema can be transferred to hamsters.

Eczema is not normally contagious unless it's become infected so it shouldn't be a problem for your ham, always best to wash your hands before handling them or their food/water etc anyway.

Eczema itself isn’t contagious so their is no risk of it being passed onto your hamster. However if it is infected the infection can be passed on. I used to have bad ezcema on my hands and I never had an issue although I made sure that I applied my steroid creams after handling and made sure hand were washed throughly before interacting with them.

I had excema near my mouth recently, its not contagious but the treatments can be dangerous to hamsters so make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after applying creams and ointments.

Thanks for all of your reassuring replies! Much appreciated. I thought I'd ask here first before I went ahead and handled my hamster because the last thing I want is another highly contagious zoonotic outbreak that took many painstaking months to fully clear.
