Swollen hamster leg
Hi. This is my first time posting on here so not really sure where I'm meant to put this. Basically I have a 2 year old Syrian hamster called Snowy. When I woke up yesterday she had her leg stuck between the bars in the corner of her cage. I managed to free her leg and she is managing to walk on it. My only concern is that it has swelled and is quite red. She keeps trying to climb up the cage but falls as I don't think she can grip with her paw. Not really sure what I can do to help her. My worry is that she is in pain but I don't know. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Swollen hamster leg
She does need to be seen by a vet, she is likely in pain. They hide it well so it can be difficult to tell. They should be able to give her pain relief. Hopefully it isn't anything too serious but she does need to be seen to confirm that.
Also make sure the barred bit she got stuck in is sorted, not sure how her foot got trapped whether it was through a normal bar or a door or something.

Re: Swollen hamster leg
Sorry to hear about Snowy's accident, she does need to see the vet, they can make sure nothing is broken & give her pain relief or anything else she may need.
If she still keeps trying to climb the bars it might be worth trying to fix some cardboard there to prevent climbing & any further injury.
