Question is silicate litter safe for hamsers?

i bought this specific litter for my new hamster - https://www.trixie.de/heimtierbedarf...er/?card=26616
i
n the pet store they told me it is safe for hamsters.

when i got home and put it in the litter box, i think my hamster took few of those in his mouth so i took the box out and replaced that litter with another.

i want to know if it is safe for using and if that little bits that he maybe took could do any harm? im really new to this

No it isn't. The silica can swell inside them and cause problems. Most small animals do not eat litter of pouch things which hamsters do and they could easily injest some.

Not safe as Souffle says. I think it is similar to the potty litter granules, which can swell inside also - I used those at first and our hamster only tried to eat it once but spat it out Were you using it in the whole cage or just the litter tray? Best thing for the litter tray is Chinchilla Bathing sand - it soaks up the pee and you just empty the litter tray every 5 days or so and replace the sand.

They will use a potty/litter tray if you put it in the area they have chosen as a toilet (often a corner of the cage, although if it's a large house they may choose a corner of the house as an ensuite bathroom Then the rest of the cage stays mostly clean and dry.

Try not to worry and just keep an eye for a day or so. If he seems fine, he probably is.
