Tumour or an overreaction?
We noticed yesterday that our two year old Syrian has a lump on her side, between her front and back legs. My thoughts immediately jumped to tumour, although the lump is where I imagine her cheek pouches end, so is there a chance it could be an impaction? We are bringing her to the vet later on, but just wondering if anyone has an idea what it could be.

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
Good luck at the vet, it could be a number of things really so it's not possible to guess but I do hope it isn't anything too serious & she'll be ok.

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
Just back from the vet and he said that it’s a growth of some sort but he can’t tell exactly what just from feeling it. He said that since we only noticed it yesterday we should observe it for a couple of weeks and if it doesn’t resolve by itself, bring her back in and we’ll go from there.☹️

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
I'm so sorry that your precious hammy has a growth and the vet didn't have any more specifics to give you at this time. I will be praying with all of my heart that your little fluff will be alright and it isn't too serious. Hugs to you and plenty of get well cuddles to your hammy. Please keep us updated if you have a chance. Good luck.

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
I'm sorry you couldn't get a more definite diagnosis, I can imagine how worrying that must be, hope she'll be ok.

Oh no! That must be really stressful and scary! I’m crossing my fingers she will get better!

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
She died suddenly tonight. We had her out last night and we saw her this morning, but she just deteriorated so quickly out of nowhere and passed. I really don’t understand what happened, and I’m more angry than upset about it because she was relatively young and it feels so unfair. She’ll be missed.

Re: Tumour or an overreaction?
I'm so very sorry, you did what you could for her but sometimes we just can't know exactly what's wrong with them & they can succumb very quickly, at two she was a good age really & I'm sure she had a lovely life with you. It's extra hard somehow losing a ham at this time of year & I'm sure she will be very much missed but she'll live on in your heart.
