I think my hamster is dying :'( (touch wood that she isnt)
Pip is just in the corner of her cage with her eyes closed and has been eating less the past 2 days and sleeping more.
it's 23:04, so she's usually running on her wheel by now.
I don't know if i should take her to the emergency vets or just stay up with her :'(
I don't know whats wrong with her.. the vet said the operation went fine etc.

Re: I think my hamster is dying :'( (touch wood that she isnt)
is it possible that she could just be really sleepy, or having a few off days?
At the moment i have left her in peace, im not sure if she will know if i am constantly watching her or not and i can only see her with the light on which i know hamsters dont particularly like
So iv'e now go into my room and turned her light off

I hope she's ok, it will take time for her to recover completely so she could be just feeling a bit off at the moment, make sure she stays nice & warm & keep a close eye on her.
If you're still concerned in the morning give the vet a call & see what they say.

It's just that her operation was about 2 weeks ago

I know it's been a while but I wouldn't rule out her still getting over it however you've been observing her & if she seemed to be doing well & now appears to be going downhill it might be best to speak to the vet & see what they think.

Re: I think my hamster is dying :'( (touch wood that she isnt)
I agree with Cypher that Pip may have just been still recovering from her surgery. However, if you are ever concerned that she is not well, it is always best to contact your vet to be sure. I'm so relieved that she seems more like herself this morning and may have eaten some of her food. I totally understand counting the exact amount of pieces that you place in her bowl. I had done the same exact thing for Eros, too, lol. I will continue to keep praying and wishing for your darling sweetheart's full and speedy recovery. Hugest of hugs to you, Peridotgreen. Tons of get well cuddles for your beloved Pip, too. Btw, Arwen and Hinata send their get well whisker kisses to Pip as well.

That's good news, hopefully she'll continue to do ok now.

Re: I think my hamster is dying :'( (touch wood that she isnt)
I am so sorry Pip seems under the weather. Just trying to think of general things. Is the room warm enough? It has been freezing at night recently - I've been leaving the heated clothes drier on in Newt's room on a timer for a couple of hours during the night, to stop it getting too cold.
Otherwise it may be she has a recurrence of the condition post-op and it would be worth seeing the vet to get her checked - she may need antibiotics, even if she has picked up again now.

this is so frustrating! just as i thought she was getting back to her normal self, she went on her wheel for alittle, now shes back to being sleepy in the corner
i let her out in her ball and everything, she was active.
Really so confused.
I'm going to see what she is like the next few days then ring the vets, my vet isnt in work untill Thursday I don't think. There are other vets that she can be seen by but i'm not sure they would be able to give her the best possible care.
The room is warm enough :/
