Default My hamster doesn't enjoy floortime

hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right spot.
I've had my female winter white dwarf for over a year now and I've come to the conclusion that she doesn't enjoy time outside her cage whatsoever. She's in a massive cage (a Billy XL that's 160 x 70 cm) but I still offer her time in a playpen every so often. However, I tend not to do it so much because I feel like it freaks her out being outside of her cage. She's very tame and not scared of me at all, but whenever I put her in her playpen she starts freaking out until I put her back in her cage. The first 30 seconds are fine, she's enjoying exploring her new environment, but after that she starts panicking and running around like she's gone mad. I don't want to stress her out so I always put her back immediately. It's sad because I think she deserves to have some time outside her cage but she just doesn't seem to like it. Is there anyone else here who's had a similar issue? Is it ok if I don't do floortime anymore? Or should I keep trying?

My hamster is like this too, she'll enjoy the playpen for about 5 minutes then want to go back again. Lots do prefer their cage, dwarfs especially usually. Especially if it's a big cage like yours is! Not sure if you meant floor time as in a playpen or just running round a room. Not many of my dwarfs have enjoyed running round a room to be honest. Playpens are a better & safer idea, so have you tried different playpen setups? Putting more items in for example makes them feel more secure, or hiding treats around it makes it a bit more interesting. It doesn't matter too much if they don't like coming out though, not all are inquisitive enough to want to explore and would rather enjoy the comfort of their own home.
