Advice for new hamster
Hello everyone, I’m about to get my second hamster in 3 weeks! I would like to know some things to give her the best life possible.
1)What bedding do you recommend for people who live in the uk.
2)What’s the best food/diet for Syrian hamsters.
3)How could I sanitise children’s play sand as a sand bath for my hamster as normal chinchilla sand is quiet expensive.
4) What are the best type of toys for Syrian hamsters.
5) What alternate places can I shop for my hamster not just petsathome.
6)Any other information that could be useful.
Thanks for any information

Re: Advice for new hamster
Fitchrecycling does a big 20kg bale which is good value and hams can burrow into it. It is a big bale to store though and it will last a very long time. Take plain white toilet tissue and shred it a bit to give your pet some thing soft to sleep on. It's fun watching them stuff itin their pouches and then pulling it out again in their den.
Harry hamster food is good and they love little bits of fresh veg, only a little as it makes them wee more than a desert animal would do. Mine love peppers especiLly the seeds . A little bit of dandelion and clover very popular, chickweed too. Make sure no weed killer has been used on the weeds though.
If you're in Hampshire you might like one of my babies. I have 3 little longhairs waiting for a cat free home.
Ma Donald's cup holders and kitchen roll tubes are good. You can hide a monkey nut inside the tube and scrunch the ends up so they have to work a bit for the treat.
