Black ears

Hello,

My teddy bears hampsters ears are black, Petco said they are going to fall off!!

Help! What is going on? She said to put coconut oil on them.

Many colours of hamster have black ears and this is quite normal. It is just the way they are and the normal colour of the skin in the ears.
Unless your hamster has an infection in the skin of the ears and the tissue has died which would be very unusual they are not going to fall off.

Did you buy your hamster from Petco? What would make them say his ears are going to fall off? That’s just silly of them!

As Souffle said, black ears are normal in hams- it’s just coloration. If you could share some pictures, it might help us more. Welcome to HC as well

Like souffle and Drago have said Black ears are normal for some hamsters as the ear colour is determined by certain phenotype in their DNA which gives them black ears. Sharing photos of her/ears will help us fully confirm this for you?
