Evacuation Plans
Hey Everyone!
I am correctly working on a evaluation plan for Libby (my hamster) just in case of an emergency like a fire (a fire would be most likely in our area), flood, etc. What size cage would be temporarily housing your ham? So far I have an emergency bag that will have bottled water, food mix, and my plastic hideout that I use for traveling. I was thinking I could make a small bin cage (lower under the recumened size as hopefully we wouldn’t be gone to long) for temporarily housing. Dose anyone have an evaluation plan for your ham? If so I would loved to know!

Re: Evacuation Plans
I’ve actually been thinking of using a small store bought hamster cage. I’m a bit more drawn to the bin cage though. Any thoughts?

Re: Evacuation Plans
I also always think it is a wonderful idea to prepare for any emergencies that may occur so you can make sure to evacuate as quickly and safely as possible with all of your loved ones. I personally think that a bin cage is a great option as it is much lighter to carry in a hurry and more affordable for an emergency/travel cage. Since I have multiple pets that I need to make sure are carried to safety, bin cages are the best option since they can also be stacked if necessary. I make sure there is bedding already in there, a food bowl, a water bottle secured to the side with Velcro, and a cardboard box for a makeshift house. Next to the cage, I have a bag with bottled water enough for all my pets, all of the food mix varieties that I feed to Eros and my piggies, some Timothy hay for my piggies, and Eros's extra Alli Whimzee chew toy.

Re: Evacuation Plans
While it has been quite some time since I’ve updated it, I did make a thread a while back that went over emergency procedures. I have a few more things I’d like to copy over from a document onto this whenever I get time. Maybe this could be of some help to you!
Tornado procedure refresher! +other emergency plans
