Question Bar Climbing

I know this may be a lesser issue to what someone else may be facing.
But my new hamster keeps climbing his stuff and walls.
He doesn't bite the bars though?
He just seems to climb on everything he has.
Should I be concerned?

Climbing is extremely common for hamsters so that is not a problem. However, I would make sure that there is not too much of a distance for him to fall from though. You need to also make sure that there is a lot of deep substrate to help cushion any falls that he may have so he will not be injured in any way.

Dreamtree gave some great aidvce! You can normally tell if they are doing because of stress or just for a bit of fun! When my past hamster was in a stressful situation he would “monkey bar” across the mesh of the cage frantically. I would think your ham just loves climbing on things which is very typical for all hams like dreetree said. Just make sure he cants fall off anything to high like dreamtree said.

Talking Re: Bar Climbing

Thanks for the response! He seems to love doing this and I don't think he is bar chewing.
I am glad that he isn't the only hamster that loves to climb.
I also don't think there should be an issue with him falling.
I'll try to make sure it is safe though.

How long have you had your hamster? Bar climbing and chewing is fairly normal in newer hamsters. However, if your hamster continues the behavior after they’ve settled in, it’s usually a sign their cage (or something in it) is unsuitable. For now, just try to make sure he can’t fall (as mentioned) and provide stimulation. Best wishes

Both of my hamsters are climbers. Especially with new hamsters, they want to explore, so they'll climb a lot, but some of them keep doing it. My robo climbs all over the place at breakfast time because he's so excited!

As long as they're not getting hurt, it's no problem.
