Default Hamster got leg trapped not sure if it is broken

So I just found my hamster hanging by one leg off the bars in her cage. She had got her leg caught behind her bottle and between two bars. I got her down and it looked really bad at first, the hair on her leg is gone (or it looks that way because it’s wet) she had been chewing her leg so it was bleeding slightly although it has stopped now. She wasn’t walking on it either.

I picked her up and had a look, I can’t see any bone, it’s just very red but not swollen, but it is hard tell because she is very squirmy. She is back in her cage now and appears to be walking on it, and is climbing the bars again. It just looks really shocking because her whole leg is red, bald and wet (from her licking it) she is occasionally limping still but does appear to be able to put weight on it. She ate a bit of cucumber and then went back to bed.

I took the water bottle off a swapped it for another but I don’t know what to do because I live on an island and there isn’t any emergency vets here. They aren’t open till the morning. Should I put her in a her old smaller bin cage for the night? Or would this just stress her out more?. I’m worried if she goes climbing the bars again she good do further damage.

I would transfer her to the smaller bin cage - think of it as a hospital room till she recovers. Keep her quiet and calm with some soft food. I'd consider a large bin cage to stop this happening again. Climbing is quite dangerous for hammies. Provided the foot is not infected and she rests it for a while it should heal OK in 10 days or so. If you see any sign of pus or swelling or not moving it / blackness in toes etc then see the vet urgently. I hope she recovers well.
