Hamsters Side is Blue
Hello my Syrian hamster is about 2 years old and she seems to have a blue spot on her side. Is this normal? I知 very worried and I知 about to go on vacation and leave her with a family member. She seems to be happy and active although she has a tough time climbing up her cage and has been very bloated. She eats and drinks regularly. Below is a picture of her sorry for the bad angle she kept moving.

Re: Hamsters Side is Blue
Bloating is not normal at all. It sounds as if there is something going on inside and in females this age it may well be a pyometra or womb infection which is very serious. The blueness could be from an infection inside or it could be bruising from a fall or from fluid in her abdomen pressing on the organs.
You need to take her the vets or have her carer take her soon to determine what is going on as she could become critical with this sort of issue going on inside.
