Another lump on Bailey

Bailey had been doing so well on his antibiotics but now another lump has sprung up on his face. It's making me wonder if it's a tooth abscess or something. He's a bit under the weather with it and has been scratching it but is still coming out to potter around and is eating his porridge and antibiotics enthusiastically. Hope it shows up ok in the picture. What do you guys think? I rang the vet on Friday and he said to bring him in early next week if it hasn't cleared up to give him some pain relief.

Oh no! I was so relieved that Bailey's previous one was going down with the antibiotics and was very hopeful that it will be completely gone soon, but I am now very sorry to that he has another one now. I do not know why this is happening to your little sweetheart, but I hope that they both go away completely and no more will show up in the future. I will be praying with all of my heart that he will be all better soon and the vet can help him out with the pain and these lumps. It truly looks very sore, but thankfully he is eating well and taking his antibiotics. Best of luck to you both. Huge hugs for you and plenty of cuddles for sweet Bailey.

Poor Bailey, I'm really sorry to see he has more problems herbi, you could be right about the lump being something to do with his teeth, hard to tell though, how long does he have to go with the antibiotics now? If he's still on them for a while then it might go down but if not I guess he will need another vet trip, such a shame when he's been doing so well but fingers crossed he can beat this too.

Thanks cypher and dreamtree. Cypher the antibiotics are open-ended, he was due to finish yesterday but I kept going with them as there's plenty in the bottle so I just hope they will get on top of the lump. Poor Bailey I think it's getting him down a bit. All this began after a trip to the vet in his carrier when he got in a pickle and tried to bite his way out of it which he doesn't usually do so perhaps he did some damage to a tooth or something. I don't know. From the picture does it look like a normal sort of lump to you? To me it looks a bit nasty and potentially sore but I have no experience of these things and don't really know what to expect. I could use the eye drop stuff superficially to help soothe it but haven't so far as he hates being wet and it makes him super-groom which doesn't really help!

It's hard to tell from the photo really if it's a normal kind of lump like an abscess or not herbi, as far as I can see it does but I wouldn't like to say for sure.
Continuing the antibiotics for now sounds like a good idea but I was wondering if you've thought about giving him a probiotic too? It would help him cope with the downside of the antibiotics & give his immune system a bit of a boost too.

That's good idea cypher. Would natural yoghurt do or do I need something else? where do you get probiotics from?

I don't think most natural yogurt is that beneficial tbh, you can get ProC from P@H or other pet shops, I wouldn't put it in water as it says on the bottle though, just sprinkle a teeny bit on some food a few hours apart from the antibiotics, another one which I use is Potent Brew.

Hi Herbi. So sorry he has another lump. I would get it looked at. Maybe the vet could see if it seems like a lanceable abscess. Or take a biopsy. If it’s come up quickly it could well be a tooth abscess. Otherwise it could be a cyst or tumour.

Dear herbi. I am really sorry to hear that Bailey has another lump. It does look sore on the picture, the poor wee thing. He is being very well looked after though. Is there any news? Charlie
