Sorry haven’t been round much!

My Syrian, he was fine yesterday running round begging for treats, this morning it’s the opposite, normally 5am he is up begging for fuss or a treat this morning nothing, I thought maybe a lie in day, so checked he is heavy breathing, hunched up and when I pick him up his front paws are clenched, closed. It looks like he can’t open them as he just spins round in circles, ears are up but he is just very sleepy and withdrawn.

Will def pop him to the vets today but any ideas?? Nothing has changed in his cage he is approx 1 year, 3 months old. Poor little guy!

So sorry to hear that Sam is unwell, it's very hard to guess what the problem may be, it sounds a bit like the symptoms of a stroke but he seems a bit young for that, it could be many things though, a bad ear infection even can make them spin like that so it would be best to get him to the vet for a proper diagnosis as soon as you can, I hope they can help & he'll be ok.

It looks like he can’t use his front paws at all, pushing himself round the cage with his back legs, spoon fed him some water and left him to sleep, will pop to the vets after work.

Vet thinks he has had a stroke plus an infection, he is spinning round, we have some meds and food and on 24hr watch, if he doesn’t get any better by 5pm tomorrow then recommended to help him sleep, it’s such a shame such a happy hammy and now he is so ill. Literally this has hit him in 12 hrs feel pretty bad, last week he was happily sat on my lap watching the world go by...

It must be very hard to see him get so ill so suddenly, I really hope he responds to the meds, hoping for the best for him.

Aw I am so sorry it sounds a nasty thing to witness and to have it happen so suddenly is hard. Sounds like you're making him as comfortable as you can which is great and he will know how much you care. I hope he gets better. Xx
