Emergency vet trip with Maduros

An hour ago, I rushed Maduros to the vet after seeing that she was outside of her hideout, struggling to stay conscious, not being able to walk and looking incredibly ill. (Before anyone says anything, there is no way she had a fight with Flan. There was no blood or ANY sign of injury). The vet took a look at her and thought she may have a really bad bladder infection as she had a very puss filled "area" but was not 100% sure. She gave us some medicine which we have to give to her threw a syringe twice a day. As she is in evident pain, if her condition does not improve by Wednesday evening, she will have to have a euthanasia first thing Thursday morning. I am worried about my little baby. I only got her at the end of April. She is a young hamster with so much life ahead of her. I really hope she is going to pull through. I have put her in a separate cage to Flan incase she is contagious and i think Flan realises something is wrong. She is refusing to sleep in her hideout without Maduros. The cage i have put her in is a bin cage which is about 320 square inches (I know this is too small but i want to be able to keep everything close together so she does not have to travel much and it is all i had laying around).
I am going to keep you posted everyday on Maduros' condition and I really hope my darling is going to improve.
As her and Flan do everything together, how do you think she will cope if Maduros does pass? What would i be able to do to help her?

I have not had you for long but you are a special ham (even though you let your sister boss you around haha). I know you can pull through little one. Do it for yourself, your sister and me. You have so much life ahead of you and i want you to live it to the fullest. Come on sweetheart, you can do it xx

So very sorry to hear this news CBB. This is a lot for you to cope with after Blossom.
I cannot help you on the vet front on her condition. All I can say is that putting Maduros into a much smaller bin cage is ideal. Many of us keep a smaller single level cage available as a hospital cage. It does exactly what you want. Everything on one level and near at hand when this is necessary.
Also, Flan will be unsettled by her sister's absence but that will pass. They can never be housed together again even if Maduros recovers. It may take Flan a week or two to become used to being alone in her cage but that is perfectly normal.
Fingers crossed for you and Maduros now.

Oh no, I am terribly sorry that Maduras and you are going through this! This is such heartbreaking news after all you are dealing with due to Blossom's recent passing. Luckily, you were able to take her to the vet and get her meds that will hopefully cure her. Is there any medicine that the doctor can prescribe to her to help ease her pain while she is trying to recover from her infection? I think you did the best thing possible by putting her into a smaller bin cage to make things easier for her to get to. As Coco said previously, Flan and Maduros will now have to be living separate lives and never be reintroduced to one another (or any other ham) in order to prevent the high possibility of them fighting or possibly killing one another. My heart goes out to you and your hams. I will be praying for all three of you and hoping with all of my heart that Maduras will have the strength to pull through this as pain-free as possible and live a long, healthy life with you. After getting Muduros out to give her her 2nd dose of medicine for today 10 minutes ago, i have concluded her condition has worsened. She is refusing to eat or drink and not moving anywhere. If i put her on my lap she just sits there and falls asleep and is even more of balance than she was yesterday. At this rate, Maduros does not have much time left on earth. In a way I am hoping she passes at home instead of having to be injected with a needle by a vet. I really hope i will wake up tomorrow and she will be better (a bit like Blossom the 1st time she got ill).

My heart is breaking for you and Maduros! Have you tried using a tiny pipette to give her water and liquid baby food? Unfortunately, refusing to eat, drink, or move is not a good sign. I will be praying with all of my heart that there will be a miracle, and her condition changes for the better. However, if it sadly is her time to be called to the bridge, I will be hoping that it will be as quick and peaceful as possible and she will be in your loving hands so you can comfort her as she gains her angel wings. You are doing absolutely everything possible to help your little darling and, no matter what the outcome may be, she knows how much she is loved by you. I am really, REALLY sorry, CBB! My eyes are filling with tears as I am typing this post to you; I really hope a miracle is granted to you both. My heart goes out to you, and I am sending HUGE hugs to you and cuddles to Maduros. poor little Maduros, what a shock to find her in this way. You've done everything you possibly can for your little one. I am keeping absolutely everything crossed for you that she pulls through, My heart really goes out to you and I'm so sorry this is happening. Please pull through little one, we are all rooting for you

My heart really goes out to you and poor little Maduros. I'm praying that she pulls through and recovers. Just know you've tried your best to care for Maduros, and even though you haven't had her a long time, she has felt so much love and happiness with you caring for her. Unfortunately, I have to give you all the devastating news that Maduros has her euthanasia booked in first thing tomorrow morning. I am going to miss my little angel so much. I am giving her so many cuddles so i can show her as much affection as i can whilst she is still here. I will be making a memorial for her once she has grown her angel wings

I am so so sorry CBB. Maybe she will pass peacefully in her nest during the night. When they are young and something happens, it can be devastingly quick. I learnt that sadly with my last little boy Jeeves. He was only 4 months old and I had a vet appointment booked for the morning and he did not make it. It won't be anything to do with your care. Sometimes it happens.
