Default Grandpa Ares

Hi all. I haven’t really posted here in a while. My hams are doing ok, except I’m a bit worried about Ares. He’s 1 year and 3 months old now and I know he’s going to cross the bridge soon. He doesn’t seem to have any health issues, he’s the same old annoyingly cute but aggressive little ham I know and love. How much time do you think he has left?

What makes you think it might be near his time? If he doesn't have any health issues or changes in behaviour he could have plenty of time with you yet, it's usual for Russian hybrids to live to around two but some will go on to live beyond that, I don't generally expect to see any signs of them beginning to age before 18 months if not later.

If a hamster is perfectly healthy, which Ares appears to be, there isnt really telling how much time they have left. Hamsters generally live 1.5-2 years but it is common for dwarfs to live be on that so i would not surprise me if he has many more months to come.

I agree with what everyone else says. If Ares isn't having any health issues, changes in behavior, and is eating and drinking fine, he most likely will be with you for a while. Hopefully, he will have a very long life and create many more wonderful memories with you.
