Eye issues...
Hi all,
I currently have 2 Syrian hamsters and 1 Russian Dwarf, all 3 have been having eye issues. This similar problem occurred with my late Syrian who passed away not long ago from unrelated issues.
This usually occurs when they first wake up, either one or both eyes will be closed shut. When it first started happening with my late Syrian I consulted a vet who assured me that because there was no discharge from the affected eye then it is most probably just a little irritated and to use a cotton bud with warm water to offer relief.
All of my hamsters have shredded tissue as bedding and I use a bag of loose wood shavings in their cage, could the wood shaving be the cause of these problems?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Re: Eye issues...
It could well be the wood shaving causing a reaction. I would only use a very mind soap to clean out cages and rinse very well. No sprays or air fresheners in the hammy room and you may want to try Fitch which is a paper bedding which may suit them better. It;s a huge bale and will last your 3 quite a while. They deliver for this price and it arrives in a few days. https://www.fitchfirst.co.uk/fitch-p...bale-20kg.html
