Need help with Pyometra and galastop dosages
Hi Not been on here for a while but our little girl Cookie has got open pyometra - she is 21 months old and weighs 158g and started 8 days ago, we went to the vets who gave us baytril 0.04ml twice a day and asked about galastop 50 which we were given 0.03ml once a day for 5 days.
Last night 2 days after her last dose of galastop and her last day of baytril the discharge was coming back. We have started on the galastop again but does anyone know how long we can keep using it for and what are the dosages other hammies have been given as she is fine on the baytril but the galastop seems to make her very jittery and lethargic.
She was still very active before starting the galastop and after the dose stopped she went back to her normal busy active self again so am just a little worried that as we were the first patients to be prescribed Galastop for an hamster at our vets that the dose could be a little high.
We have also kept her on the baytril.
Many thanks

Re: Need help with Pyometra and galastop dosages
Personally I think if its coming back again then the medicines are not keeping the infection away, I suggest you go back to the vet and maybe consider about spaying your hamster. Spaying is currently the only sure way to cure Pyometra, specially if it is just coming back over and over.
