HELP!!! Winter white dwarf has growing pus on its eyes.
Hi everyone!
My dwarf is 16 months old and has a growing pus on his left eye as seen in the images link below. We brought it to the vet two weeks back when it used to be just a red dot at the corner of its eye but the vet could not confirm whether there's pus in there at that point of time. She then prescribed antibiotics, swelling medication and using saline and other cream but it still grew to this size despite all the medication and theres a very strong pus smell on him too
Anyone with any similar experience or has any solution besides bringing it for surgery because I can't bear to risk it as it might never wake up again after hamster anesthesia.

Re: HELP!!! Winter white dwarf has growing pus on its eyes.
The pictures will not show however it does sound like the infection has not responded to the treatment. Is the pus in the actual eye or is it in a small 'spot' like a stye type infection? It is best to go back to the vets and have this rechecked. Also have the teeth checked as teeth that overgrow can actually grow into the palate and eye socket. He could be given some gas to a full examination could be done and maybe even empty and flush the abscess. It must be painful so I would be guided but your vet as to the prognosis and if they think the infection is very deep. You may need to think hard about his quality of life with such pain.

Thanks for the reply souffle! Just right after I submitted this post, his pus burst. Anyway, we've removed and cleaned it by ourselves, he looks happier now. Hopefully, the wound will close up soon!

Re: HELP!!! Winter white dwarf has growing pus on its eyes.
Keep bathing it and draining the pus. They tend to fill up again if you allow them to close too quickly. Once there is nothing draining you can let it heal from the inside. Use a saline solution of 1 teaspoon boiled water in 1pt of boiled water and cool it down before use. Hope he heals up well.
