Lump on hamster’s cheek pouch
Hello there! Yesterday, I woke up to find that my 3-year-old Winter White hybrid hamster has a lump on the exterior of her cheek pouch! Her normal skin color is pink, but the area around the cheek pouch has turned black. The lump is hard and has what looks like a scab or infection on top of it. I know that there is no food in the pouch.
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Forrest.
*Extra information*
Minerva (my hamster) also has a large reproductive tumor and cataracts. She has had a few seizures as well. Ever since I've gotten her she has been deaf. So generally she is not a super healthy hamster.

Re: Lump on hamster’s cheek pouch
This looks sadly like the tumours have spread and this one has ruptured. Once ruptured they often get infected and are very hard to treat. I'm sorry this has happened. She sounds to have been through a lot. She is a fabulous age too.
Ask yourself if she still has a good quality of life and if she is free from pain.
Myself I have always chosen to give rest when tumours rupture rather than stressing the hamster out trying to treat with antibiotics which likely will not give much longer but you should be guided by your vet and by your heart,

Thank you for your reply and advice, I gave the situation some consideration and unfortunately agree that at this point it would be best to just keep her happy until she passes. I wish they could live forever <3
