Default Could this be a tumour?

I noticed this huge swelling on my Syrian hamster tonight. I feel so sad for her Does it look like it could be a tumour? It’s happened very quickly. It wasn’t there a couple of days ago, or maybe if it was it definitely wasn’t so big and obvious. She can’t use the leg either, it’s just being dragged behind her. She’s still getting out of bed and eating. I just don’t know what to do, I don’t know if vets are open over the weekend or if they’ll even do anything for a hamster? She’s just turned 2 years old.

It’s hard to photograph but does look pretty big in person.

It could be something along those lines or she hurt her leg badly and it’s swollen, I’d get her to the vet ASAP

I agree it is possible it's swelling from an injury, maybe a fall or getting the leg caught somewhere, you will need to see your vet as soon as possible to find out what it is & what treatment she may need.

Unfortunately she was put to sleep today at the vet The vet thought it was a tumour attached to the bone. She was screeching when being handled and couldn't use her back leg at all. So the kindest thing seemed to be to let her go.

I'm so sorry to hear this, you did the kindest thing for her & she's at peace now but it is always so hard to lose a ham this way.
