Unhappy Please help me:(((

Someone please help me I’m shaking. I got my hamster Theodore two weeks ago. I gave him his space for a week and then started giving him treats from my hand around 8pm. The last few days I noticed he started sleeping in really late. To where I wouldn’t see him because I had to go to bed. I also don’t sleep in the same room as him. He sleeps in another quieter room. Anyways, it’s 10 pm and he still hasn’t come out. I tried to wake him because I was really concerned and he turned his head but didn’t open his eyes. Then I noticed some of the tissue I gave him for sleeping has dried red stuff on it!!! I don’t know if it’s blood and he won’t get up for me to inspect him and he’s not tame!! Please help I’m so scared and worried I’m going to cry

Sorry to hear this, if your ham won't wake up or get up then it does sound as though there may be something wrong, an untamed hamster would most likely try to get away from you if you woke it in the nest.
Is there anything red in the cage, toys any red vegetables that could have stained the bedding do you think?
If not & it is blood then you need to get your hamster to the vet as soon as possible.
If he's not responding you should be able to pick him up easily but if he does get up you may be able to coax him into a small box or something you can carry him in then put him into a large plastic box so you can safely give him a check over.
Hope he's going to be ok.

This doesn`t sound good. If he`s cold to the touch or barely moving when you try to wake him, maybe try and gently cup both hands around him, lift him slowly and see what happens. If he`s very ill or you do see any blood around the rear end of the nose area and he`s not opening his eyes, I would feel he is either dying or in need of a vets analysis.

He may just be cold and the red stains could be food dye or something he`s eaten that had red colouring? Has he woken up yet?

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's very hard to lose a young hamster suddenly like this, as you've only had him two weeks the chances are he was already unwell or had some kind of congenital problem when you brought him home, I'm sure you did your best for him.

So sorry for the loss of a young hamster. You were able to show him love and special care even though for such a short time. As others said he was probably ill before you brought him home Don't blame yourself I'm sure for the two weeks Theodore knew that not all people hurt you and he knew what true love was. RIP Theodore now you can run and be free of all pain and illness at Rainbow bridge. Hugs to you TTH while you come to closure over the loss of a loved pet.

Oh Theodorehamster - this is so sad - heartbreaking for you. Your little ham clearly had something wrong and was probably born with it. It sounds like he passed peacefully in his nest and he was lucky to be loved by you. But so hard for you - I'm so sorry xxx He is playing over the rainbow bridge now, pain free.

Don't let it put you off getting another hamster when you feel ready. Some pet shop hamsters aren't bred well. Maybe you could try and find a breeder next time or get a recommendation for a particular pet shop.
