Re: Poorly or just old?
Yes I think so, serendipity. I thought I was going to lose him very soon the night before last, he was just curled up silently in his nest and his tail was white rather than pink as usual. He didn't want to eat much but last night he had a bit of bounce in him and his colour back and he ate half a teaspoon of porridge! I'm taking it day by day but I don't think he's suffering. He came out of his nest of his own accord yesterday too to potter round his cage and have a snack which was nice to see. He sat in exactly the same way on the edge of his food saucer as he did when he first arrived here, which got me a bit! Felt things had come full circle. My first picture of him is sitting in his bowl that day. Bless him I hope he goes peacefully in his own time.

Re: Poorly or just old?
Well Bailey is surprising me and bouncing back today. He ran on his wheel for a little while and has been checking every time I go past to see if it's porridge time! He has more life in him yet, for now anyway! He does stoop a lttle to the left and has one ear pricked now and one slightly dropping so perhaps you were right cypher and he had a stroke. He also had a bit of trouble holding his butternut squash I gave him so I chopped it into smaller bits

Re: Poorly or just old?
Aww that’s great that he’s doing better! From what you described I would guess it was a stroke too, along with the other users. Sounds like you’re doing a great job taking care of him

Re: Poorly or just old?
Aww, I'm so pleased to hear that Bailey is able to run on his wheel again! He is such an impressive age. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that he continues to do well and enjoy all his hamstering around happily and pain-free. Hugs to you and cuddles to your brave, little trooper.

Re: Poorly or just old?
That is good news herbi
It may be that it was a stroke & he has recovered at least to some extent, it's always hard to be sure but I'm really pleased to hear that he\s picked up again & he's doing so well for his age.
Well done Bailey

Re: Poorly or just old?
Thanks everyone. He's still doing well today, he had quite a long run on his wheel and looked very normal for him. Pleased for him and will keep on with the porridge as he's a bit skinny now he's so old.
