Diabetic Campbells not drinking
Arghh! I have only had her 3 and a half weeks! Learning so much about diabetes. So Belle is 13 weeks old. Last glucose test was Sunday, still 2++++ Ketones 0 She has been on a diabetic diet for 10 days now. She was drinking 20 grams of water per day. Has been really inactive, occasionally on her spinner,, but not for the past few days that I have seen. Little worried, as for 2 days now I have not seen her drink at all. Just weighed her bottle and she has had 1 gram of water in 24 hours. She hasn't peed either!
What I have noticed today is she seems restless, digging up the whole cage and she has pouched 2 bowls of food. 1 earlier, just topped it up and she's pouched it all again. Little concerned that she isn't drinking. I am wondering if I should syringe feed her some water?
Cannot test her urine as she isn't drinking or urinating. She is at the vet Friday.

Re: Diabetic Campbells not drinking
That doesn't sound good. She will go in to Diabetic ketoacidosis and this may be what the apparent confusion is caused by (the staying awake and odd food hoarding.) With a young animal like this treatment is very unlikely to be a success if the vet has any.
I'd try and get her in sooner and make a decision based on what the vet thinks.
I'm sorry she is going through this

Re: Diabetic Campbells not drinking
You think I should have her put to sleep? Is she suffering? She is so young She seems okay as in she is running around on my lap. I just don't know! She isn't staying awake, she keeps sleeping. He ketos are zero, her glucose is high.

Re: Diabetic Campbells not drinking
She did this for 2 days at Christmas. Didn't drink for 2 days, I gave her something sweet and she was fine. I am a little confused over your response Souffle?
