Oh poor Pippin. I'm wondering if there is anything in the room that is affecting him? Things like air fresheners or scented candles can affect them. Air fresheners really bother my asthma - especially the plug in electric ones that give off constantly.

Once again, thank you for replies cypher and Serendipity, they are so appreciated!

I am not using any air fresheners or candles in my room at all. I've also got an air purifier that I hoped would help. I spoke to the vets again and we're going in for another normal check up on Monday, as he is definitely still sneezing and we will see from there.

Hi again Just another update (hopefully, the last one in this thread). Today's visit to the vets seemed to go quite well. As Pippin always gets very wriggly and jumpy, the vet had to scruff him to have a thorough check-up. Pippin seemed really unhappy about it (understandably, it put him into such a vulnerable position and I think it was the first time that it was done to him). On the positive side, the vet had reassured me that his breathing sounded perfect, and inside of his mouth, everything seemed clean, healthy and not irritated. He said that the sneezing should settle within the next few weeks. Of course, I'll still be keeping an eye on him. But for now, it seems that Pippin is healthy. Once we got home, I gave him a variety of treats and I will be leaving him in peace for a day or two, so that he can settle back in and recover

That sounds good astrid, fingers crossed Pippin will be fine now, I'm sure a few nice treats will help him get over the stress of the vet trip!

Do hope all settles down ok now. Good that his vet check found all ok. Maybe he is just a noisy hamster! Some of them make all kinds of noises. One noise they make when they're cross or a bit shocked by something is a kind tch ing noise - and vibrating sometimes that sounds a bit like a loud purr.

Thank you Serendipity! He might be a vocal hammy I've only had him for such a short time that I can't say I know all there is to know about him. Especially, since our bonding seems to have regressed throughout the duration of his treatment. Pippin is the first pet that I've got as an adult. I did have two Syrians as a kid (although, to be honest, my mum was doing most of the caring for them) and none of them made these kinds of noises ever. But then, every hammy is an individual. Also, the information about the hamster care is nowadays so much more advanced and everything is so new to me. I am looking forward to learning more about Pippin (and hamsters in general) and hopefully seeing him grow up healthy and happy.
