Default Bold spot on neck

I have a hybrid dwarf hamster that has had a small bald spot on her neck, that has only been visible if you stroked the fur to the side. But today after coming home (I have been away for the weekend) I noticed that it had grown a lot and was really visible. What could it be? She is nearly a year old if that has anything to say.

It's hard to say what might be causing that, sometimes they can get bald patches from trying to squeeze through holes or gaps in things that aren't quite big enough, this doesn't really look like that but it's always worth giving the cage a check to be sure nothing in there could be causing a problem.
Keep an eye on it & if it continues to get worse then it may be worth having your vet check it out.
In the meantime you could try giving some flax seeds & a tiny drop of evening primrose oil daily, I've found this to be very effective for hair loss if there's no other underlying cause that needs to be treated.

It seems like an injury but its hard to tell. If the patch begins to spread then definitely see a vet as that could be a stress illness or disease. hair loss can also be a sign of irritation or an allergic reaction (this happened recently to erinsanimal's hamster iodine) so try switching the bedding your using.

Thanks! Her house is quite a tight squeeze, but its the only house she wants to sleep in.
She already gets flax seeds in her food, but if it doesn't get better I will also try that oil.
About when this started I did give her aspen bedding for digging (she has never had it before), could it be that she, like Iodine, is also allergic to aspen?

She could be allergic but I wouldn't expect one bald spot from that, you'd more likely see itching & or respiratory problems, try & find her another house she'll like if you can as that could be causing it if she has to squeeze in.
Any holes or entrances should always be big enough to get through comfortably, if they're too small there's always the potential for them to get stuck which is both stressful & dangerous.

I will switch out the aspen in there anyway, as I thought it would be good for digging, but it turns out she is a hamster that doesn't like to dig. I will also try to take out her house, and find something similar, only with a bigger entrance.
