Re: Broken back leg, can I please have good wishes?
Hi everyone, just a quick update.
Twinkie had a checkup at the vet last night ... and has been discharged! yaay!
She can now come off pain relief, but if she seems to go quiet over the next few days then we're to put her back on it, although the vet seems to think she'll be fine.
Her wheel is back in her cage and she's used it, and she can climb again, and do everything as normal, we're really pleased, as is the vet!
Yaay!!

Re: Broken back leg, can I please have good wishes?
That's lovely to hear. I've been amazed at the healing powers of hammies over the years and the choice to leave the foot is often exactly right with this type of break.
She's a lucky girl so I'd tell her not to go climbing too much in future Angie!
It doesn't work in all cases and if the circulation is damaged or the nerves badly damaged so it drags then amputation is needed.

Re: Broken back leg, can I please have good wishes?
I am so thrilled about your fantastic news! Yippee that Twinkie didn't need to have a leg amputation, has now been discharged from the vet, and is recovering well. What a brave and courageous fighter to survive! I'm glad that your sweetie is now able to resume typical hammy activities, too. Twinkie is surely a very lucky ham who was blessed with an amazing miracle!

Re: Broken back leg, can I please have good wishes?
Thank you, Thin Lizzy! We're so thrilled, me particularly as I still partially blame myself, but not so much now due to the kind words of everyone in here (thank you, again!). So this Christmas, even though she is completely unaware it IS Christmas, I'm going to spoil her, haha.
She runs so fast over the carpet you wouldn't think she's got/had a gammy leg though, she like ... floats, like a ghost, LOL, and if you don't watch her, she's gone. Luckily our lounge/dining room is perfectly safe and she cannot escape. But she's a master (mistress?!) at hiding, little whatsit, though we're getting to know her favourite place ... right behind a vase where she sits to have a good wash, so not exactly difficult to find really!
