Default Dwarf Hamster Baytril dosage

Hello, I have a 1.5 year old Dwarf Hamster who seems to have a respitory infection.

I have some Baytril (Enrobioflox 10% 100mg/ml)

I have searched and searched and I cannot find a definitive answer as to dosage.

The last time I adminstered Baytril to a Dwarf Hamster (a different hamster) I was instructed by the vet to give them 1ml baytril watered down with 5ml water, but I am unsure if that Baytril was also 10%.

I have just given him some Natural Yogurt for probiotic. I need to start giving him the baytril tonight.

Please help if you can.

Have you been told to give the Baytril in the water bottle or neat from a syringe?
In the water bottle it is normally 1ml in 100ml of water and changed daily. This assumes they drink about 10ml of water which seldom happens as it tastes horrid.
It depends on the original dilution however I wold think that neat at this dilution you would give 0.01ml twice a day. This is literally one DROP. Personally we find it best mixed in a half teaspoon of babyfood and left till it is eaten. Give morning and night 12hrs apart. If in doubt though I'd phone the vet to clarify as it should be written on the label clearly. 1ml in 5 mls of water would be way too much if you gave him all of that! You would never get 6mls of fluid down a dwarf anyway.

Sorry, I meant 0.1ml baytril plus 0.4ml of water for a total of 0.5ml

Do you think it would be ok to put 0.01ml into a spoon of yogurt instead of baby food as I do not have any baby food right now.

You need to give the yogurt six hours apart from the meds. Yogurt contains bacteria which are killed by the antibiotic so it is pointless feeding it at the same time. It's also milk and it can upset some hammies tummies. You can make up some ready brek or some mushed weetabix maybe?
It's really important you give correct dosages on posts like this as that is a huge mistake which could lead to very wrong dosing. I think you should call your vet to clarify. 0.5ml is doable by mouth. It would be 0.1ml in a half teaspoon of food I think but I'd check this is OK with the vet.
