Am starting to think it will soon be time to let hammie go. He is getting worse every day in terms of weight loss and balance and general condition Will be preparing my daughter for it. Do not want to take her there with me though I remember how I cried when I took our rat for his last journey. It is heartbreaking to even think about it but more so to prolong the suffering. He still has better days but I suspect he is not feeling well most of the time

I'm so sorry to hear this Nube, it is heartbreaking to have to make this hard decision but if he is unwell most of the time & suffering then it would be the kindest thing to do, I do know how hard it is but hang on to the thought that when we have to help them on their way it's the last gift of love we can give them.

If you know in your heart it is time then your choice is the right one. A choice made from love is always right. Make the appointment and let him fly free with dignity. One day too soon is better than one to late and you have the power to save him from any pain.
I know how hard it is and I hope his path is gentle x

Hammie is gone. Spent half a day yesterday cleaning and sorting out all his things. Am going to donate most of them to local RSPCA shelter, hope they find a good use. Am keeping the cage and few big items. Just in case we recover from the loss sufficiently to get another baby

So sorry Nube, he did well to stay with you so long & lived to a great age but it's always hard when they go, he'll stay forever in your heart.

I hope when the time is right for you there will be room for another fur baby in your heart & home.

I know I’m a bit late to the thread, but I’m so sorry for your loss xxx He is free from pain now, hopefully running free with all the passed HC hams.

That’s wonderful that you’re donating the toys. And a good idea, I may do that when my boys pass.

I think he's just getting old. His legs aren't working as strong as before, but if he's doing regular hamster actions, I think it'd be good. If it seems he cannot walk/run very far, maybe you should place the things more closer to your hamster.

If it seems to get any worse, though, I suggest taking him to the vet. It's better to be safe than sorry. But I really don't think it's nothing if it's that simple.

I hope this helped!
